    Transversely polarized Drell-Yan asymmetry AT T at NLO

    We present the first fully differential next-To-leading order QCD calculation for lepton production in transversely polarized hadronic collisions, pā†‘pā†‘ā†’Ā±X, where the lepton arises from the decay of an electroweak gauge boson. The calculation is implemented in the Monte-Carlo like code che that already includes the unpolarized and longitudinally polarized cross sections and may be readily used to perform a comparison to experimental data and to extract information on the related parton distributions. We analyze the perturbative stability of the cross-section and double spin asymmetry ATT at RHIC kinematics. We find that the QCD corrections are non-negligible even at the level of asymmetries and that they strongly depend on the lepton kinematics. Furthermore, we present two scenarios for transversely polarized parton distributions, based on the de Florian-Sassot-Stratmann-Vogelsang (DSSV) set of longitudinally parton densities and fully evolved to NLO accuracy, that can be used for the evaluation of different observables involving transverse polarization.Fil: de Florian, Daniel Enrique.     A simple theoretical framework for the analysis of liability dollarization

    This paper presents a simple model of debt contracts in order to analyze the conditions under which domestic residents would choose to denominate debts in ``dollars''. In the model, borrowers are producers of non-traded goods, and subject to shocks on prices. The real exchange rate varies in response to real shocks. There is a domestic unit of account; prices in terms of that unit can be shocked by a (presumably policy - induced) disturbance. Debt obligations can be denominated in either traded goods (dollarized contracts) or local currency. When real and nominal shocks are possitively correlated, dollarized contracts tend to be preferable to (non-contingent) nominal contracts when nominal shocks are large and real shocks are smallLiability Dollarization, Nominal and Real Shocks.

    Computing New Optimized Routes for GPS Navigators Using Evolutionary Algorithms

    GPS navigators are now present in most vehicles and smartphones. The usual goal of these navigators is to take the user in less time or distance to a destination. However, the global use of navigators in a given city could lead to traffic jams as they have a highly biased preference for some streets. From a general point of view, spreading the traffic throughout the city could be a way of preventing jams and making a better use of public resources. We propose a way of calculating alternative routes to be assigned by these devices in order to foster a better use of the streets. Our experimentation involves maps from OpenStreetMap, real road traffic, and the microsimulator SUMO. We contribute to reducing travel times, greenhouse gas emissions, and fuel consumption. To analyze the sociological aspect of any innovation, we analyze the penetration (acceptance) rate which shows that our proposal is competitive even when just 10% of the drivers are using it.Spanish MINECO project TIN2014-57341-R (http://moveon.lcc.uma.es).     Red Swarm: Smart Mobility in Cities with EAs

    This work presents an original approach to regulate traffic by using an on-line system controlled by an EA. Our proposal uses computational spots with WiFi connectivity located at traffic lights (the Red Swarm), which are used to suggest alternative individual routes to vehicles. An evolutionary algorithm is also proposed in order to find a configuration for the Red Swarm spots which reduces the travel time of the vehicles and also prevents traffic jams. We solve real scenarios in the city of Malaga (Spain), thus enriching the OpenStreetMap info by adding traffic lights, sensors, routes and vehicle flows. The result is then imported into the SUMO traffic simulator to be used as a method for calculating the fitness of solutions. Our results are competitive compared to the common solutions from experts in terms of travel and stop time, and also with respect to other similar proposals but with the added value of solving a real, big instance.Ministerio de EconomĆ­a y Competitividad y FEDER (TIN2011-28194

    A next-to-next-to-leading order calculation of soft-virtual cross sections

    We compute the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) soft and virtual QCD corrections for the partonic cross section of colourless-final state processes in hadronic collisions. The results are valid to all orders in the dimensional regularization parameter ƏĪ¼. The dependence of the results on a particular process is given through finite contributions to the one and two-loop amplitudes, which have to be computed in a process-by-process basis. To evaluate the accuracy of the soft-virtual approximation we compare it with the full NNLO result for Drell-Yan and Higgs boson production via gluon fusion. We also provide a universal expression for the hard coefficient needed to perform threshold resummation up to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (NNLL) accuracy.     Higgs pair production at next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy at the LHC

    We perform the threshold resummation for Higgs pair production in the dominant gluon fusion channel to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (NNLL) accuracy. The calculation includes the matching to the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) cross section obtained in the heavy top-quark limit, and results in an increase of the inclusive cross section up to 7% at the LHC with centre-of-mass energy Ecm = 14 TeV, for the choice of factorization and renormalization scales Ī¼F = Ī¼R = Q, being Q the invariant mass of the Higgs pair system. After the resummation is implemented, we estimate the theoretical uncertainty from the perturbative expansion to be reduced to about Ā±5.5%, plus āˆ¼ 10% from finite top-mass effects. The resummed cross section turns out to be rather independent of the value chosen for the central factorization and renormalization scales in the usual range (Q/2, Q).Fil: de Florian, Daniel Enrique.     We show that the ample degree of a stable theory with trivial forking is preserved when we consider the corresponding theory of belles paires, if it exists.     SAY YOU FIX, ENJOY AND RELAX THE DELETERIOUS EFFECT OF PEG ANNOUNCEMENTS ON FISCAL DISCIPLINE

    This paper explores the impact of actual exchange rate regimes on fiscal discipline, which we purportedly link to the effect of announcing the peg and to the availability of external funds. To stress this point, the focus of the analysis is emerging markets spanning from the beginning of the nineties, given the importance of financial integration in the last fifteen years and the centrality of external financing for these countries. We empirically show that announcing the pegs has deleterious effects on fiscal discipline, while ā€˜de factoā€™ pegs which have not been announced deliver superior fiscal outcomes. The evidence suggests that this is due to the initial positive credibility shock of the announcement, which allows for easier and less costly access to the financing of fiscal deficits in emerging countries.exchange rate regimes, fiscal discipline
